Using PC2100 DDR RAMYou will have to determine whether a PC2100 DDR ram will fit into your computer. The way that you do that is you go to the internet and type "RAM Upgrade" along with your computer's make and model number into Google and see what type and speed of memory is good for your model. If it, instead, says it takes a PC2700 DDR ram or a PC3200 DDR ram, then that's what you order. PC2100 DDR2 would be something that an older computer would use. The price of PC2100 DDR ram is really coming down. A 512MB card is now around $15 on the internet. Your computer might be able to install up to 4 GB chips, or even more. When you're installing cheap ram memory, computers generally want all memory boards which are in the computer to be the same speed and the same amount. If you have two separate speeds in the computer, the whole RAM will generally run at the slower of the two RAM speeds. Sometimes memory just won't be compatible with another manufacturer's memory board, so it's always best to just throw away the old board (or boards) and upgrade with two to four new ones that all match each other.
When you're going to purchase laptop ram memory, you'll have to determine what the laptop takes. There's no way to guess, either. There are now hundreds of different styles of memory board because many manufacturers would like you to purchase only their memory board. If the computer uses generic memory cards, then you could choose to purchase one of those. Generally, Kingston makes memory cards for every computer even if the memory card is not standard. If your computer states that it takes a PC2100 DDR ram, then you still will have to make sure your order the right speed. There is a dashed number after it says DDR or DDR2 such as DDR2-400. The 400 is the maximum speed at it which runs. After you install RAM you should use a more extensive memory test program on the RAM. You can either have it run a couple hours or you can have it do an extensive 'burn-in' which will exercise the memory for many hours, or days. This will ensure that the memory chip is a good one without any weak bits which might cause random problems to occur in the future. There is a program on-line which is free called MemTest.exe. You can download it from the manufacturer's site. As usual with such things, there's also a 'pro' version which does more¡ but in the case of a memory test program, who cares? Once you've tested your memory chips, your memory chips are fine. Very rarely will a memory chip 'go' on you. It's generally in the first few months of operation that problems will arise. Most problems are related with timing with two dissimilar boards or dissimilar speeds of two boards from two different makers. So, if you replaced both PC2100 DDR ram on a computer and their speeds match, then that should be fine. |

Kingston HyperX RAM Modules

Kingston HyperX RAM modules are on top of their game-and a whole lot more. Plus, if it's coming from Kingston, I'm rest very-assured that I've got a good product (unless it happens to be one of those notorious Kingston counterfeits-which I had the distasteful experience of buying a "Kingston DDR2 2 gigabyte modules", only to find out that they were phonies and would not even set-up right in BIOS!). Ok, venting aside, let's take a glance at my friends system, its HyperX modules, and various other offerings from Kingston.

Low computer RAM, or Random Access Memory, is not a healthy condition for your computer. If you do not have enough RAM to load your open applications, you will have a very slow PC that will not be able to run your applications properly.
